Space is limited and registration is open for Making Cents from Nonsense: Strategic Social Media for Businesses and Organizations, a course in which we are fanatically interested because Mike:

  • is a self-professed social media geek
  • has two degrees from DU
  • maintains close ties as an alumnus, marketing consultant and hockey fan
  • designed and is leading the course.

See what I did there?

Architectural upgrades have enhanced DU's prestige.

Here’s the course description:

Social media marketing is today’s most talked about and least understood strategic marketing tool. How does a small nonprofit’s approach to social media marketing differ from that of a large company or an entrepreneurial startup? Does social media level the competitive playing field or widen the gap? Why are “culture” and “social capital” important in this environment? Why is this popular social trend also plagued by an abundance of overthinking and just plain nonsense?

Focusing on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, learn how experts use these tools to their advantage and explore the same strategies for your business or organization. Create realistic marketing goals that are appropriate for social media, and discover tools and tactics for creating and optimizing your own online social networking assets.

It’s an Enrichment Course, which means that, yes, there’s homework, but there won’t be any exams, essays or grades.

I went back to school as a grown up to get my MBA in an Executive course (yes, at DU). One of the most fulfilling aspects of the program was the interaction among the students, all of whom were accomplished career professionals. There is no substitute for the intellectual exchange among a group of accomplished professionals applying real world experience to the subject matter.

That’s why I hope you’ll join us. We’ll learn a lot from each other and have at least a little fun doing so.

The course costs $175 (that’s $43.75 per session) and  meets Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 8:30, September 14 through October 5, on the DU campus. To register call 303-871-2291 or visit the University College Web site for more information.

Go Pioneers.
