We interrupt our regular content schedule for…a hockey game.
Hanbery Marketing is a proud sponsor of–and a certain Social Media Professional can’t wait to emcee–the 2010 Charity Ice Hockey Challenge at The Ice Ranch in Littleton, CO, on July 23, 2010.
Each year, hockey enthusiasts at satellite TV programming distributor DISH Network and sister company technology provider EchoStar face off to raise money for Colorado Sled Hockey. CSH provides “out of chair activity” for disabled adults and kids.
“We’re gonna thrash those clowns,” says on ice participant and DISH working stiff Bill Everett, whose Boulder Hockey Shield Company sponsors the event. “We dominated them last year, they cheated and got lucky the year before that, and this year we’re sending them back to their workaday drudgery with the sting of loss. Again. For a good cause.”
Old Chicago and Craig Hospital Paralympic Sports Programs also sponsor the event, which is free to attend. “We can’t really charge for our brand of hockey,” says EchoStars Hockey Club founder and Event Producer Leslie Harper, “but if you’re coming, you can participate in a ‘chance drawing’ to win some cool stuff. This year we have ARCHOS portable media players, Seagate external hard drives, two iPod Nanos, a signed Broncos football, a signed Adam Foote Colorado Avalanche jersey, and more.”
The “chance drawing” works similarly to an auction. Participants buy tickets and bid tickets against the items they want. There are three donation categories, including a “High Donor Drawing” for Rockies/Giants box seats, game parking, and a $125 gift card to Fleming’s Steak House.
“It’s fun for the whole family in support of a great cause,” says Harper. “We’re all friends here and we have lots of fun together.”
“Those guys suck,” adds Everett, “and we’re gonna rub their techy geek faces in it. For the cause.”
We don't find any related posts but please keep kicking.

Mike Handbery did a great job with Play by Play of the DISH Network vs. Echostar hockey game. This was a lot of fun for all and to support a great cause like sled hockey was terrific of Mike to join and participate. Bill Everett, Commercial Marketing, DISH Network.
